Nielsen Business Media Asia (formerly VNU) was established in 2005 with the purpose of identifying and providing synergies with Nielsen’s US and European media information products to Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Part of The Nielsen Company, we are tasked to imaginatively seek out appropriate acquisitions with the goal to consistently ensure that our brands reflect, and sustainably capitalise on, evolving market conditions and changing customer needs.

In addition, Nielsen Business Media Asia has embarked on a business plan to align US publications with Nielsen trade shows in China and throughout the Asian and the Middle East regions. We will work closely with our sister company, VNU Exhibitions Asia, based in Shanghai, China, to capitalise on their successful penetration as the leading trade show organiser in the PRC.

Publications

Asia – Middle East
The Business Media Group in Asia has launched titles from Nielsen’s US real estate and design portfolio from our head office in Hong Kong with support offices in Shanghai, Delhi and Dubai. Other group titles are in the pipeline for publication in country-specific markets and regional clusters according to their respective market demographics.

The first two titles launched are a Simplified Chinese version of the commercial interior design solutions magazine, Contract China providing business and process information to the growing professional interior design community in China. The second title, published in English is Hospitality Design Asia Pacific & Middle East, this is also supported by an affiliated annual trade show in Hong Kong called HD Asia Expo & Conference.

USA
The Business Media group in the US publishes magazine titles across various segments: marketing and media, retail trade, construction, real estate, travel, food and beverage, health, sports, training and gifts, among others. These magazines reach 1.8 million business people.

Well-known periodicals include Billboard, Adweek, The Hollywood Reporter, Commercial Property News, Contract, Hospitality Design, Training, Sales & Marketing Management and National Jeweler.

Trade shows
With 52 trade events attracting 461,500 visitors, The Nielsen Company is a major trade show organiser in the US. Some examples of VNU shows are: GlobalShop, Hospitality Design, Medtrade, Multi-Housing World, PhotoPlus Expo, ASD/AMD and ShoWest.


In Europe and Asia, The Nielsen Company organises 20 large events and has a 58% stake in some 100 trade exhibitions. Hong Kong hosts HD Asia Conference & Expo and Shanghai shows include DOMOTEX/Chinafloor, China Design & Contract, Kitchen & Bath Business China, BusWorld, Pet Fair Asia, R+T Asia, and Design Week Shanghai.
